After being cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19, Laramie Jubilee Days returned this past week and finished on Sunday the 11.
Featured events included a PRCA rodeo, kid’s horse show, a street dance with live music, a parade and a carnival. Vendors and food trucks served the public downtown.
Laramie City Clerk Nancy Bartholomew said that cleanup efforts began in the early morning hours on Monday the 12.
“It’s kind of a collective effort of our street division, as well as our solid waste division. The solid waste has usually provided a few trash bins, so they’re collecting those,” Bartholomew said. “Our street division comes through and they sweep the streets.”
This year’s Jubilee Days gave the community of Laramie a chance to experience the excitement once more after last year’s cancellation.
“I really enjoyed having the community come together and seeing a bunch of people out and having a good time,” Laramie resident Elayna Hixon said. “I feel like we haven’t had an opportunity to really have fun and socialize, so it was awesome this year.”
“My favorite part was getting to spend time with all of my friends and people I don’t get to see often,” resident Aaliyah Martinez said. “Of course, I’ll go again next year.”
Martinez and Hixon said that the Jubilee Days setup was similar to previous years, but with new vendors and food trucks.
“I think it’s a fun time of year,” Hixon said. “It’s warm outside and you get to talk to new people, eat a lot of food and listen to music and just have a good time.”
The week of festivities wrapped up with a final PRCA rodeo performance at Albany County Fairgrounds and an art fest at Laramie Plains Museum.
More big events are in store for Wyoming during Cheyenne Frontier Days, which will begin July 23 and go through August 1.
