“Tri Delta’s Pancake Breakfast is something that Tri Delta chapters all over the country do, although ours at UW is the only one that runs for 24 hours straight,” said Caroline Lockard, Tri Delta’s Director of Philanthropy.
The university’s chapter of Tri Delta will be hosting their annual 24-Hour Pancake Breakfast this Saturday, Oct. 23. Despite the long hours, new Tri Delta members are excited to contribute to the sororities philanthropy.
“This is actually going to be my first pancake breakfast and I couldn’t be more thrilled. We work two hour shifts, so there aren’t too many of us that will have to stay awake in the middle of the night, but for the girls that do, the trick is a lot of caffeine- and we will have lots of fun events such as karaoke to add some energy to the night,” said Allison Grimm, a freshman dual majoring in Political Science and Spanish.
“I fell in love with Tri Delta because of its members and their passion for our philanthropy and drive for service. Events like our 24-Hour Pancake Breakfast are a great way to raise money for St. Jude,” said Gabi DeVoogd, a sophomore majoring in Political Science.
All the proceeds of this event will go to Tri Delta’s national philanthropy, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Since their initial philanthropic partnership in Nov. of 1999, Tri Delta has raised more than $74 million to support St. Jude families and patients.
“In the past with this event, we have raised close to $15,000 and I am hoping to do the same this year. We put on this breakfast annually specifically during homecoming weekend at UW so that we can get the absolute best turn out,” said Lockard.
Tri Delta members will be tabling in the UW Student Union from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. all week to sell tickets and provide additional information regarding the event.
“This event is a great opportunity to support your Tri Deltas and St. Jude. This is a big event, so plan to have some fun- we will have entertainment, music, and pancakes,” said DeVoogd.
