The Blue Devils marching band are training for their summer tour after a two year break due to COVID.
“The energy this year is electric,” one of the Corps Managers of the Blue Devils, Kristen Lichtenthal, said.
“I think not being able to do this for two years has made everyone a bit nervous but ecstatic to start marching again.”
Stationed in California, the Blue Devils are an international marching band brigade that is on campus to train for their competition tour across America.
“It’s pretty much the NFL of marching bands,” Lichtenthal said about the competition.
While primarily made up of California residents, the group has applicants from all over the world. They range in age from seventeen to twenty-one, which is the hard cap for participation.
While they could not get their usual practice area back in California, UW is hosting the Blue Devils and letting them practice their routine on campus.
“Laramie is such a great place with great people. They welcomed us with open arms,” Lichtenthal said.
They can be seen out in the fields near War Memorial Stadium practicing for twelve to fourteen hours a day, perfecting their routines.
The Blue Devils will be performing their routine at War Memorial Stadium on June 18 at 9:00 p.m.
