America is a loaded gun and it is time for change

On Tuesday, May 24, 19 students and two teachers were killed in a Texas elementary school shooting.
This marks the two hundred fourteen shootings in 2022, making more than one shooting per day in America.

“When in God’s name are we going to stand up to the gun lobby? When in God’s name will we do what we all know in our gut needs to be done?” President Joe Biden said.

He is right. We need to make a change before it is too late.
As a student, I should not have to worry about being shot and killed while sitting in one of my classes.

I should be worried about tests and homework, not if someone will walk into this classroom and shoot us.

All across the country, people are worried and waiting for the next shooting to take place. They are looking around, wondering when their luck will run out and if they will be in the next news story.

This is what America has become. It is not a country. It is a gun. It is a breaking news story just waiting to happen.

Less shootings occurred during the spring of 2020 when the nation was in lock down during quarantine.

But now life is back to normal. While people will say that they are

so glad everything is up and running again, this shootings are back as well.

If normal is a every day is shooting each and every day, do we even want it?

I don’t.

I would much rather sit in my house and worry about how long I’m washing my hands than worry if I will hear gunshots while going to Walmart.

Other counties are known for fun things like sports, food or excursions. America is known for guns. We are a country built on firearms.
It is time for our supposed leaders to make the changes they promised us when we elected them into office.

The government needs to make it harder for people to get a gun.

It is harder to get a driver’s license in America than getting a gun, and we need to change that before it is too late.
