Keep your filthy laws off my silky drawers

On Friday, June 24, 2022, the Supreme Court overturned Roe V Wade, making many people across the country furious.

“All I can say is I’m mad. Why does an old white man get to decide what I can and cannot do with my body? This isn’t about political or religious beliefs. It is about controlling women. ” sophomore Meghan Buderus said.

“I’m not even 19. I can’t have a baby now. I can hardly pay for the college degree that I need to be successful in this country. I mean, how are old men going to force women to give birth but not offer support at all. Giving birth is so expensive, and we don’t have a good healthcare system, making me mad and scared. I mean, what will they take away from us next ?”

Ever since the leak on May 2, people all across the country have protested their dissent with the possibility of Roe V Wade going away.

And now that it finally has, people are furious, and I am right alongside them.

I do not understand why people think it is okay to tell women what they can and cannot do with their bodies.

Protests across the country have broken out, with signs with things like “Ban bombs, not bodies.” or “My abortion was the best thing I ever did.’ written on them.

There was also a lot of “My body, my choice.”, “Abortion is healthcare.” and “You can only ban safe abortion.”

And they are right. Just because the Supreme Court banned abortions does not mean women won’t have them. They will still have them, it will just be unsafe, and they will live with the fear of being persecuted for choosing what to do with their bodies.

Some states, such as Alaska, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington, have decided to keep abortion legal.

New Hampshire and New Mexico are expected to announce that abortion will also remain legal there.

Other states will have the right to make abortion illegal, no matter the circumstances, making me and millions of others across the country furious.
