UW tennis played at the John Messick Invitation in Fort Collins, Colorado this past weekend. Two Cowgirls shined over the weekend playing in both the singles and doubles divisions.
On day one Nikol Dobrilova, a junior from Spain, won her first singles match against a University of New Mexico (UNM) competitor moving her to the winners bracket.
Lucia Malinak, a junior from Germany, was defeated by her competitor from UNM after three matches on day one.
In the doubles division, Malinak and Dobrilova teamed together and beat their opposing team from Washington State University. The Cowgirls next opponent is a team from University of South Dakota (USD) that they will play on day three.
In the singles division on day two, Dobrilova beat her opponents and made it to the championship round where she will face an opponent from Utah State University on day three.
Malinak won one and then lost one on her second day during the John Messick Invitational, ending her singles division matches for the weekend.
For the final day, Dobrilova lost her championship match and ended up second in the Flight B Singles division.
Malinak and Dobrilova ended the weekend with a loss in the doubles match against USD, finishing out in third overall in Doubles Flight A.
