The University of Wyoming offers many programs to the students and faculty that are free to use. The Wellness Center is a great opportunity students and faculty can use to benefit their mental and physical health.
The Wellness Center (WC) is located in the Half Acre Recreation and Wellness Center building and is open during the school week.
The center offers a variety of health promoting services that are available anytime it is open. One of the most readily available services are the electronic full-body massage chairs. The massage chairs offer seven different program types with the choice of a Swedish, Thai, Sports, or Shiatsu massage. The seven types are energize, performance, awaken, recovery, lower and upper back, and a demo.
The two chairs are free to students that provide their WyoOne ID and are available by scheduling an appointment online or in person.
On Fridays, the WC has Free Fruit Friday where any UW student can take a piece of fruit. There are also informational brochures you can take home on health supplies and materials.
The staff of the Wellness Center also provides consultation for anything you need it for, athletic and personal training, and health screenings. The Wellness Center gives career opportunities to those needing or wanting them. There are also weekly classes to educate yourself or to get fit without going to the gym. Examples of classes offered are similar to Zumba, yoga, or swimming exercises.
Overall, the Wellness Center is a great tool for students’ wellness. Athlete or not, the athletic trainer can help you out. The massage chairs can free the stress built-up after taking that exam. If students feel sick or want help with mental health awareness, a consultant can speak with them or direct them to a class to relax the mind or to get fit.
The Wellness Center offers all these along with outreach programs and more. They are open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
