The Wyoming Cowboys returned to Laramie after a few games in the Paradise Jam Tournament in the U.S. Virgin Islands. They lost to the Grand Canyon Antelopes 66-58.
The Pokes debuted their new jerseys on Saturday, throwing it back to the Fennis Dembo era, with red, gold, and brown blocks down the side.
The team also hosted a Teddy Bear Toss at halftime, where fans throw teddy bears onto the court that will be donated to children in Ivinson hospital in Laramie.
The game started out close, with Wyoming scoring the first points of the game, but struggling to keep that lead for most of the first half.
The score was 31-30 in favor of Grand Canyon at halftime, and things were not looking up for the Pokes.
Jake Kyman stood out this game, getting 16 points and 6 rebounds as he entered the starting lineup for this game. It posed as a well deserved start for him.
Along with him, Hunter Maldonado had an exceptional game, with 12 points, the second most behind Kyman.
The Pokes began to gain hope at the beginning to the second half, as they took the lead in the first seconds after the break. They kept it competitive throughout, but could not get the job done.
The Antelopes had an incredible performance, only missing one free throw all game, and their best player, Rayshon Harrison, dropped 21 points.
The continued struggle of missing three point shots continued for the Pokes, as they went 10-35 beyond the arc.
Another bad loss had Cowboys fans upset and wondering where the preseason hype went.
The Pokes will return to the Arena Auditorium on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 7pm to take on Texas A&M Commerce.
