The Wyoming Cowboys fail to get it done against the USAFA Falcons, losing 82-74 and extending their losing streak to eight in a row.
The Pokes men’s basketball team has been on a big losing slump and have fallen into last place in the Mountain West conference. Injuries have heavily affected this, and the team has not shown too many signs of this streak ending.
Against the Air Force Falcons, the Cowboys went up early in the game, commanding a 22-10 lead near the midway point of the first half. They were even up by five points coming into the second half.
Quickly after this, the Falcons ran away with an imposing lead and controlled the second half.
Air Force’s Beau Becker dropped 20 points in the second half alone and was a big factor in their victory.
The Cowboys were without the help of Hunter Maldonado, and had to send out their 13th unique starting lineup of the season, tied for most in the nation.
Some individual performances from the Cowboys were impressive as Noah Reynolds picked up 26 points and six assists, leading the team in both categories. Ethan Anderson tacked on 14 points, and freshman Nate Barnhart was 100% from the field and led the team in rebounds with six.
Noah Reynolds has emerged as one of the Pokes best players and his presence has surely been missed from a few games he was inactive prior to their meeting with Air Force.
Colorado State will come into town on January 21, where the Pokes have a serious chance to pick up a win against a bitter rival and gain momentum for the rest of the season.
