The Cowboys head to Boise this weekend, in an anticipated game against the 3-4 Boise State Broncos. Both teams are 2-1 in conference play, with a Mountain West Championship appearance still very much up for grabs.
Most notably for the Cowboys, they come into Saturday off of a bye week, which gives everyone plenty of time to rest after a grueling 7 straight weeks of play. Harrison Waylee looks to make his return after missing a game due to a leg injury. Coach Bohl expressed a positive outlook for the star running back on Monday, and was happy with his return to practice. Waylee has 540 rushing yards over 4 games this season, and has undoubtedly been a difference maker for the offense.
The Broncos also come off a bye week, suffering a heartbreaking defeat to CSU on the last play of the game two weeks ago. The difference maker for Boise is running back Ashton Jeanty, who is 4th in the nation in total rushing yards, with 868 yards over 7 games.
Boise goes for over 100 more yards per game than the Pokes offensively, but the Cowboys allow nearly 5 less points a game. In Wyoming’s last two games, strong first half performances have faded in the final two quarters, especially against Air Force. In Boise, the Pokes will look to keep their momentum through halftime, and maintain control the entire 4 quarters.
Although Air Force and UNLV are undefeated in conference play thus far, Wyoming still controls its Mountain West destiny despite the loss to the Falcons. Beating Boise on the road will be critical for their MW Championship run. The game kicks off at 3:30 PM on Saturday, October 28th, and will be broadcast on FS2.
