The Associated Students of the University of Wyoming (ASUW) Student Government held their weekly Senate meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 14, to discuss and vote on over nine separate pieces of legislation, only two of which were old business from the previous week’s meeting.
The senate voted to pass both pieces of legislation from the previous weeks meeting, Senate Bill #2918 ‘A Bill to Amend the ASUW Rules and Procedures to Ensure Compliance of Legislative Record Keeping’ and Senate Resolution #2919 ‘ASUW Recommendation on proposed Mandatory, Program, and Business Enterprise Students Fees for FY25. SB #2918 passed with a vote of 19-0-1 and SR #2919 passed with amendments on a vote of 19-1-0.

When the first reading of SB #2925 ‘Reforming the Senator Vacancy Process for the ASUW Vice President to Nominate Vacancies’ was given to the senate, they voted to dissolve into a committee of the whole.
Following the dissolution of the senate body, they deliberated for an hour on the bill’s contents which eventually resulted in the bill passing on its first reading, with amendments, on a 12-3-3 vote.
The senate wrapped up its official business after the first reading of SB #2926 ‘Special Project Allocations for Fiscal Year 2024’, and entertained a motion to cancel their weekly meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 21, which passed with a 16-2-0 vote.
The next ASUW meeting will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 7:00 p.m.
