The University of Wyoming (UW) Staff Senate was established in 1977 and stands to represent all UW staff employees. The Staff Senate meets on the first Wednesday of each month and works together with administration, faculty, students and trustees for the betterment of the campus.
The most recent news in the Staff Senate is that they have selected new leadership on the team; President Adam Corneau, Vice President Tori Henderson, and their newest Secretary Jesse Grosinger.
“I heard from previous senators about the job and wanted to make a change and continue to help the staff of UW… One of my biggest ambitions is to make sure staff’s voices are heard,” said Henderson.
Henderson has been a part of the group for just under two years and within her new position a little under a month.
Henderson is wanting to use the same momentum that has already been created in the Staff Senate and continue to use it to help the workforce at UW.
“I’m jumping in and hoping to do a good job and provide a personal touch as I grow in my position to help the Staff Senate succeed even more.”
The Staff Senate is more than just policies and rules on campus. New Staff senate members are working on keeping the Staff of UW as priority and implementing fairness, equity, and making an overall positive difference in the workplace.
Additionally, the work to come together to improve the community by organizing events and committees to recognize and appreciate UW staff and build a connection with individuals. All are welcome through these events and encourage people to participate, have fun, and learn more about what the Staff Senate wants to bring.
Overall, the Staff Senate’s leadership team has significant roles in leading and putting UW staff members’ concerns and aspirations at the top of the list.
