Last Friday the University of Wyoming experienced a unique and hilarious night in the form of “Lewberger,” a comedy band and vlogging group that’s gained popularity and a sizable following on YouTube.
Described as a combination of Flight of the Conchords and Lonely Island, the band consists of three members, Alex Lewis, Hughie Stone Fish, and Keith Habersberger, the latter also being affiliated with the popular internet group “The Try Guys.” Stone is also known for co-founding The Arts Project Syracuse, which helps schools in the Syracuse area provide funding for arts projects, especially in disadvantaged communities. The group originally got going in 2014, when Habersberger and Lewis met each other at a networking event. Several years later, when looking for a piano player, they happened across Stone. They liked how his sound fit in with the rest of the band and decided to keep him aboard.
The group is primarily known for their viral Tik-Tok songs, some of which were performed at Friday’s performance. The group has nearly 750,000 followers on the platform and it was their main route to fame. They usually make improvised songs and parodies about various everyday maladies for people, often with raunchy humor twisted into the mix. Habersberger has said that they’ve been inspired by various comedy bands, such as The Lonely Island and Weird Al Yankovic, and the shared love of comedy bands was one of the main things that tied the group together.
Lewberger’s performance at the University of Wyoming brought a fun mix of music and comedy that the audience loved, and provided another fun pre-homecoming event for all UW students to attend.
