Six University of Wyoming swimmers wrapped up action in the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb., June 25-July 2.
“I am really happy with how the whole week went,” Wyoming head coach Tom Johnson said. “We were able to break personal-best times on 61 percent of our swims, which was better than the meet average.”
Cowgirl Kelsey Conci started the week off with the best performance for UW in the 100-meter backstroke. Conci became the first UW swimmer since 2004 Olympian Scott Usher to make the semifinals of an Olympic Trial event. She swam her way into the semifinals where she placed 11th with a time of 1:01.16. She was also the last UW swimmer to compete on, swimming the 50 freestyle on Sunday, July 1 where she placed 86th with a time of 26:43.
“I was really pleased with Kelsey’s swim this weekend. She really swam her tail off.” Johnson said.
