Friday Night Fever presents 'Chadzilla and the Asteroids'

The ‘80s music cover band Chadzilla and the Asteroids will be playing at Friday Night Fever’s ‘80s Dance at 9 p.m. tonight in the Union Ballroom.

Boyd Deuel, the Lead Student Programmer of Friday Night Fever, said students enjoy the band Chadzilla. Chadzilla and The Asteroids have been to UW before through organizations like the Student Activities Council and FNF.

The four-piece band based out of Denver will be playing classic tunes from the ‘80s. FNF is also awarding prizes for winners of several competitions, said Deuel.

The competitions are: Best ‘80s persona (best ‘80s outfit/costume), Best ‘80s hairstyle (most authentic ‘80s hairstyle), Best ‘80s dance moves and Best ‘80s look-a-like (dress like an 80’s icon or star), Deuel said.

Chadzilla and the Asteroids consists of front man Chadzilla, who plays the drums and vocals; Adam, who is on the guitar and vocals; Tyson, who plays the keyboard, guitar and vocals; and finally Jeff who plays the bass and vocals, said Deuel.

The band has played at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado, and also has toured internationally.

Students who do not feel like getting their ‘80s dance groove on have another entertainment option Friday night, Deuel said. FNF is also showing the Amazing Spider Man at 6:30, 9, and 11:30 p.m. The movie show times were selected so students can participate in both events, Deuel said.

More information about the event and Chadzilla can be found at the Wyoming Union Facebook Page or at the FNF office in the lower level of the Union. Anyone with questions can contact FNF at their email fnf@uwyo.edu or stop by their office.

The goal of FNF is to give students something to do on Friday nights in Laramie, Deuel said.

Deuel said that a few hundred students come to FNF events. The events, hosted every Friday at 9 p.m., are free and open to the public.
