Cowboy football fans do not get discouraged, yet. This season is just a tough one for the football team. They came off a hard loss in the New Mexico bowl game and are still working out kinks.
The football team will have to win the rest of its games this season to go to a bowl game, and although I am a believer in miracles, I realize I must be realistic.
This season is going to be rough for the rest of it. We should look forward to every game and take it slow. Take it game-by-game and result- by-result.
After the loss to Fresno State Saturday, the Cowboys are currently 1-6 in overall record and 0-3 in the Mountain West Conference.
“Bottom line is we didn’t execute. We’ve got to do a better job. I have to do a better job of coaching. We all do,” head football coach, Dave Christensen said post-game. “We’ll get back and evaluate what we did and where our issues are at and try and get them corrected.
Bottom line for all Cowboy football fans is that we should not give up. Cowboy fans must keep going to games and showing support. Attendance at home football games shows we still care and want them to win and try their best, which at this point is all we need.
The team needs support with the Colorado State game coming up Nov. 3. Our biggest rivalry needs a lot of fans for support. Whether we go to a bowl game or not, beating CSU and holding the bronze boot is a school victory.
As fans, we should look for small victories in the games and keep supporting the team. This last game against Fresno State was difficult but should not break the fan base for the team. It still needs the fans to keep supporting it and coming to its games.
As fans, we should start looking at every game as a rivalry game. Maybe we should start looking at the small details and the little victories instead of the big picture.
Saturday, the team will play Boise State. This time, fans, look at and celebrate the small victories.
