They are a unique trio comprised of two violinists and a double bass player. Their music is described as category shattering with elements of classical, country western, gypsy and jazz, according the their online biography.
The Student Activities Council and the Cultural Programs are bringing the “classically trained garage band” Time for Three to The University of Wyoming. The concert is at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Fine Arts Concert Hall.
“Time for Three is truly a unique band. Their style and sound is hard to pigeonhole and categorize. You just have to hear them,” Janelle Fletcher, coordinator of the Cultural Programs, said.
Graham is happy to be bringing this “wonderfully unique trio to the University of Wyoming.” Time for Three covers popular songs such as “Little Lion Man” by Mumford and Sons and “Stronger” by Kanye West, Graham said. In addition to covering popular songs, the band also writes and records its own as well, Fletcher said.
The band has been to Wyoming before but never Laramie, Fletcher said.
“They’ve actually written a song about Wyoming called ‘Wyoming 307’ when they played in Jackson Hole,” Fletcher said.
“With one album already recorded and public, word from one of the violinists hints at a new album being dropped in the near future,” Fletcher said.
In addition to the show at 7:30 p.m., the band is playing a free show in the Union Skylight Lounge from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for those who cannot make the show later that night, Fletcher said.
At the show in the Skylight Lounge, the band will be talking and visiting with students and giving a preview of its show, Fletcher said. SAC along with the cultural programs will be giving away vouchers to get tickets at a discounted price.
“At the Skylight Lounge, we (SAC and the Cultural Programs) are giving away half-off vouchers. Students should really come by and grab one. It will definitely be worth it.” Fletcher said.
