The University of Wyoming’s chapter of Delta Delta Delta sorority is hosting its annual pancake breakfast to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital this weekend. This year’s theme is “Saving Lives Since 1999.”
The event is at the Tri-Delta house, 1616 Sorority Row, and will start at 6 a.m. Saturday, and end at 6 a.m. Sunday. Because of daylight savings, the event will last 25 hours this year.
College students, families, and community members are invited to attend the event.
Tri-Delta Vice President of Administration Meghan Kolf said the sorority will have lots of entertainment during the 25 hours and would love to have a huge turnout this year.
Nationally, Tri-Delta has been partnered with St. Jude since November 1999. The current goal is to raise $15 million dollars in 5 years. Money raised at the Pancake Breakfast will go towards this goal.
Kolf was the philanthropy chair last year and had the opportunity to visit and tour St. Jude. She said that it was a life-changing experience and that being able to donate to a cause that donates to so many other causes is very unique.
It costs $1.8 million to run the hospital each day, and last year, Tri-Delta chapters nationally were able to run the hospital for one full day with their donations, Kolf said.
Kolf said that it is a very fun atmosphere and there is a consistent flow of people.
“Even though we are just flipping pancakes, it is part of something that is much bigger than that,” Kolf said.
