The Library Sports Grille and Brewery will leave its Grand Avenue location in February. The owners plan to re-open at a later date in a to-be-determined location.

Patrons will have to temporarily part ways with The Library Sports Grille and Brewery as it will move locations next semester.

The Library has been at its current location since 1994, but is now moving because its owners and the building owners were unable to come to an agreement on the lease terms.

The restaurant and bar has captured the attention of many with its tagline, “Don’t lie to your mom, tell her you’re at The Library” and has long since been a favorite among college students due to its close proximity to campus. It will close in February and the owners are unsure of when and where it will re-open.

“We have to be out by Feb. 6, so we’ll probably close the week before that,” owner Tonya Gay said. “We won’t know exactly when we’ll re-open until we find out where we’ll be moving to.”

In spite of its location change, Gay is hoping to maintain the atmosphere the bar currently has. Its décor consists of pool tables and bookshelves with varying textbooks, and it has the feel of a pub in its bar area.

“We own all the equipment in the bar and restaurant, including the chairs and tables and everything, so we’re hoping it’ll still have the same feel in the new building,” Gay said.

The Library is known as southeast Wyoming’s original brewpub as it brews many of its own beers. It has even received awards for a handful of its beers including Best in Show at the Old West Brewfest for the Devil’s Tower Honey Ale and the People’s Choice at Saratoga’s Steinley Cup for the Nitro Steamboat Oatmeal Stout, according to its website.

In spite of the change in location, Gay hopes that patrons will continue to visit The Library.

“We just hope everyone will support us in this move and will continue to follow us,” Gay said.
