Practice, compete, practice, compete is the basic summary of how the Cowboy wrestlers spent their winter break.
The squad currently has an overall record 6-3, and they will continue competition into March to hopefully capture even more victories to assure them a place in the championships.
During the break, the team traveled to Reno to compete in the Reno Tournament of Champions. Out of the 20 teams, Wyoming finished fourth.
The team then hit the road again to face rivals Utah Valley in Orem, Utah. The team beat Utah by a landslide with a final score of 21-12.
Setting off again, the Cowboys traveled to San Luis Obispo, Calif. to compete in the Mustang Duals, winning all of their matches.
In their most recent matchup against Oregon State, the Cowboys hard work and determination was not enough to claim a win. The final score of 21-12 marked the team’s third loss this year.
Though the team has presented satisfactory performances, the team is still hoping to improve. If their skills are as high as their determination, it is promising that they can dominate in the NCAA Championships, which will be held Mar. 21.
