Jack White, known for his role in The White Stripes, announced on April 14 that he will be performing acoustic shows in the five states he has yet to visit on past tours.
These five states include: Alaska, Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming. White plans on taking a long hiatus from performing live after these five special shows, according to White’s website.
White plans to keep the location of the events unannounced until the day of the show at 8 a.m. local time. Tickets for these shows will be sold only at the door of the venue at 12 p.m. and will cost $3 each with a limit of one ticket per person, according to White’s website.
“I think it’s great that Jack White is visiting the states he’s never been to,” said Evan Gwin, a junior majoring in music. “It gives these smaller communities a chance to listen to a class act in their own backyard.”
Gwin said the idea of keeping the shows secret is a “brilliant idea” and it ensures that White will be playing for fans that really appreciate his music.
Monday morning it was announced that White would kick off his secret acoustic shows in Anchorage, Alaska at the University of Alaska Anchorage. With only a few feasible venues in Wyoming, the only 4-year campus may be a possible option for White.
“Since I live in Laramie, it would be the best spot!” Gwin said. “But bias aside, it would be a great location simply because of the large student-age demographic here.”
