Post-grunge alternative rock band hailing from Casper will be trekking to Laramie to play its first show in the Gardens at the University of Wyoming Union.
Adolescent Behavior has been a band since 2009 and consists of Joseph Wheeler, Annie Wheeler, Logan Feezer and Connor Holder. Feezer and Joe Wheeler are the original members and were both musicians in classical music before forming a rock band.
“For me, I’ve always loved music and wanted to learn to play the drums,” said Holder, drummer of Adolescent Behavior. “With my friends having a band it pushed me to start learning.”
Feezer, guitarist of Adolescent Behavior, said that the group started by being inspired by large scale bands before his generation including Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest and Jane’s Addiction.
“We wanted to be ‘rock star’ quality in high school that was against the man and played our music,” Feezer said.
Adolescent Behavior has been working on getting its name beyond the confines of Casper by playing shows in other places like Laramie and Denver. The band has played Hero Depot in Laramie and recently played its first show in Denver.
“We really clicked at this show and played with no regrets,” Feezer said. “This brought our voice straight to the Denver music scene.”
Feezer said that the group appreciated the underground atmosphere of Laramie and that people in Laramie seem to “want to enjoy music raw and straight from the source”.
Holder said that Casper’s music scene is influenced by country, like most of Wyoming and has made it difficult for Adolescent Behavior to expand and get their name out.
“Multiple venues have not allowed us to play because of our genre of music,” Holder said. “But on the other hand it has pushed us to try harder than ever to break that mind set in Casper and across Wyoming.”
Feezer said he currently lives in Laramie while the rest of the band lives in Casper and finds this to be Adolescent Behavior’s biggest struggle.
“It’s a challenge sacrificing time to practice,” Feezer said, “but when we get together we are reminded why we even do this in the first place, we create music that is completely ours and express what we want to say.”
This is the first time Adolescent Behavior has been brought to Laramie through Studio WYO, according to the Facebook event by Studio WYO. Feezer said that Adolescent Behavior is looking forward to playing on the University of Wyoming campus.
“We are excited to play a show at a well-respected venue on campus and do our part to save the Gardens, a vital part of the Laramie music scene,” Feezer said. “We are also looking forward to working with ASTEC (Associated Students Technical Services) and the exceptional services they offer.”
Holder said that he believes Adolescent Behavior will bring a new look and sound to “post alternative grunge rock” to the students on the University of Wyoming campus.
“I’m always excited to play a new venue,” Holder said. “It’s always great to play for a new crowd and see a new reaction to our music.”
This summer Adolescent Behavior will be releasing their first EP that will be accompanied with The New Machine Tour. Holder said the band is still growing, will have a full-length album in the near future and are “always writing new music and playing different venues.”
“The progression in our music takes the sound of the growing indie rock scene and couples it with our grunge/alternative sound prevalent on our demos,” Feezer said.
Adolescent Behavior will be performing in the Gardens this Thursday at 7 p.m. alongside local Laramie band Old Haunts.
“Come out, see a great show,” Holder said. “Bring your friends, family, crazy uncles and have a great time and rock out. And thanks for letting us come in and rock the campus!”
