Poke Fans,
So this football season has not been the greatest, fine. 1-8 is not exactly the record we had in mind for this point in the football season, even the strongest pessimist out there would agree with this. None of that really matters at this point, considering the abysmal state of the roster when Craig Bohl took over. What does matter is the opponent come Saturday at 1 p.m. That would be the Colorado State Sheep Goats Plugs Rams.
What do I have to tell you? It’s a chance to scream at other random college students from Colorado State for being inferior human beings. It’s an opportunity to witness the possibility of a landmark win for the Wyoming football program. This time two years ago, a young Rams team came to Laramie and ran the Cowboys up and down the field. That was their launching point. They stole the Bronze Boot in Laramie, and gained confidence. The next season, they were a 10-win team.
I am not saying the Cowboys will win 10 games next year, or am I implying they will even win this Saturday. I think there’s an excellent chance of the Cowboys winning, with just a little luck. A true home field advantage creates luck. The Rams miss a play call, or draw a false start.
Finally, I am not asking you to be happy with the state of Cowboy football. Showing up for the game, as a student, is not showing loyalty. It does not wipe away your anger for a frustrating season. What it does for you, is make you part of the solution and not the problem. A bad showing at home against the major rival is not the way to garner respect as a football program.
What else will you be doing at 1 p.m.? Seething about a possible losing effort? It’s the Rams, we all need a major effort from the student body.
