Brandon Carlisle, longtime drummer for the Laramie-based punk band Teenage Bottlerocket died at the age of 37 Friday..
According to Exlaim, as well as the Teenage Bottlerocket Facebook page, the band’s drummer was transported to the hospital Wednesday after his roommate found him unconscious and unresponsive in their home.
The unnamed roommate found him around 11 a.m. and called 9-11. When the paramedics arrived at Carlisle’s house his heart was not beating. They were able to get it beating again, but his heart reportedly stopped beating another two times – once on the way to the hospital and once while in ICU. Eventually doctors managed to stabilize Carlisle, but he was in a coma and on life support.
“It is with the heaviest hearts that we have to report our beloved drummer Brandon didn’t make it. The doctors did everything they could to save him, but the MRI showed he is no longer with us. His family and loved ones are with him as they prepare to take him off life support and let him gently move on,” according to a post on Nov. 8 on the Teenage Bottlerocket website.
According to the Teenage Bottlerocket Facebook page, they set up a funding account called “gofundme” to help the family with medical costs and funeral expenses. As of Monday the gofundme fund raised $36,000.
“Thank you everyone from all of us for your donations and all the love,” according to a post on the webpage.
The members of the band include Ray Carlisle (Brandon Carlisle’s twin), Kody Templeman and Miguel Chen. The band was formed in Laramie in 2001. Due to the passing of Carlisle the status of the band is currently unknown.
