Cowboys fall to CSU at home

University of Wyoming Cowboys lost to the Colorado State Rams in Laramie by a score of 78-73. Hayden Dalton led the Cowboys with 18 points on 5-12 shooting and 5-7 on his free throws. Dalton also added 12 rebounds to give himself another double-double. Dalton also lead the team with 4 assists. Other top performers for the Cowboys was Alan Herndon who scored 18 points and Justin James had 16 points.

For CSU they were led by Che Bob who scored 17 points on 6-8 shooting along with 4-6 from the line. Prentiss Nixon added 16 points for the Rams. Nico Carvado led both teams with 13 total rebounds.

As a team Wyoming shot 18-50 from the field, 6-21 from three, and 31-41 from the free throw line. CSU would shoot 26-59, 4-16 from three, and 22-29 from the free throw line. Wyoming would end with 22 fouls and CSU would end with 34 fouls as a team.

Wyoming would jump out to a 0-8 lead but CSU would quickly close the gap. Wyoming would not be able to make a field goal for a large portion of the first half. With 5:11 left in the first half CSU lead Wyoming 28-13. Wyoming would cut the lead to 30-29 and be faced with only with a one point deficit.

The second half would see a lot of fouls as both teams had 10 fouls each before the midpoint of the half. CSU would have 3 players foul out and Cody Kelly would be the only Wyoming player to foul out. CSU would have an 8 point lead with 3:11 left in the game. Wyoming would cut the deficit to 2 but key missed free throws down the stretch and an inability to get stops would prove to be the Cowboys down fall as they would be unable to complete the comeback and fall to CSU by a score of 78-73.
