7220 Entertainment and UW Center for Student Involvement and Leadership (CSIL) have put together this year’s Rocky Horror Picture Show Extravaganza. Starting at 8 p.m. and going until 11 p.m. on Oct. 25, the extravaganza will feature the Associated Students of the Performing Arts shadowing the Rocky Horror Picture Show film. Crafts, contests and food are also among what can be found at the extravaganza located in the Wyoming Union.
“The extravaganza is put on to provide students with a free and fun Halloween event to get excited for Spooky Season,” CSIL marketing assistant Hannah Ellis said.
As an annual event that takes place in October every year, the Rocky Horror Picture Show has screenings with shadow casts where actors lip sync to the film as it plays behind them.
“It was fun to interact with the show. They have cues where people can join and just lots of participation…they really engage the audience,” said Laura Hutmacher, a UW student who attended the event last year.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show Extravaganza first started at UW in 2015 and has since been a part of the Halloween festivities put on at UW.
The extravaganza will include costume contests with prizes, a costume contest dedicated to Rocky Horror Picture Show themed costumes with an additional prize and mummy wrapping contests with a chance to win $50 gift cards to the University Store. The event will additionally include mini pumpkin painting, a Halloween themed photobooth and free food.
Food and activities are free to the public, but only UW students may participate in costume contests.
To enter in the costume and mummy wrapping contests, students must sign up at the Campus Activities Center in room 012 located in the Union before the event.
Costume contests will begin at 9 p.m. followed by the Rocky Horror Picture Show performance at 9:30 p.m.
