The University of Wyoming’s Collegiate Chorale intends to focus on the boundaries between the mystical world and the changing of the seasons With their rendition of “The Spirits Among Us”.
“The audience can expect a journey through music that explores what it is and what it means to be a spirit,” said Choir Director Nicole Lamartine.
Lamartine said the choir’s goal was to explore concepts like the spirit of the universe, the spirit of kindness, the spirit of the night and the spirit of the moon through their performance.
“There is something for everyone, from refined choral ears to anyone who’s never heard a choir,” Lamartine said. She encourages anyone who can make it to the performance to come and experience what the choir has put together.
The UW Collegiate Chorale is composed of undergraduate and graduate members. The overall focus of the choir is to display a deeper connection between text and music as well as providing an exciting performance.
Performing in programs like the Music Educators National Conference, the Music Teachers National Conference and the American Choral Directors Association, the UW Collegiate Chorale is no stranger to the stage. The choir has also performed at the Grand Teton Music Festival in Wyoming, the Boettcher Concert Hall in Denver, Colorado and the Avery Fisher Hall in New York, New York.
Internationally, the UW Collegiate Choir has performed in many parts of Western Europe, like England, Wales, Poland, Germany, France, Italy, Austria and Hungary. The group has also performed in Russia, Brazil, and Mexico.
Along with all of their tours and travels, the UW Collegiate Choir regularly works alongside the UW Symphony Orchestra for performances. The choir has also collaborated with multiple regional orchestras for tours and performances.
The performance will feature pieces from Don MacDonald, Caroline Shaw and Gyorgy Orban, and will be performed tomorrow in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall at 7:30 p.m.
