Due to Small Store Saturday and Cyber Monday, will Laramie’s Black Friday sales be worth it this year?
Black Friday is not only the mark of the holiday shopping season, but is also a time for businesses to have huge sales. Companies typically sell items that will become overshadowed by a newer product. This allows them to not only make a decent profit, but for the community to get large discounts on many items. Some of Laramies smaller stores and shops will focus more on Small Store Saturday and letting the larger retailers sell Fri.
There are many tips and tricks available to the consumer to help make Black Friday worth it. Making a budget, researching sales and not impulse buying can be great ways to avoid spending more than anticipated, according to BestBlackFriday.com. Know the store’s policy on returns and final sales, which may influence the decision on what to buy, and being a polite and kind customer can make Black Friday better for everyone.
There are many Black Friday sales at the larger retailers in Laramie, which can be found on their websites, in store and on many websites listing the sales of the holiday. Some smaller stores in Laramie are offering events with/or instead of discounts. Researching events and deals during Black Friday can help people stay ahead and not miss out on this shopping holiday.
Some smaller stores will be having sales throughout this weekend. Dodds Shoe Company, a store that has been in Laramie for four generations, will hold their sales from Black Friday through Cyber Mon., Dec. 1.
“You can save up to $60 on our entire stock of Ugg, Sorel and Frye boots along with additional specials throughout the store. In addition, we have over 3,000 pair of shoes and boots marked down 30-50% in our outlet,” said President of Dodds Shoe Company, Jeff Dodds.
Dodds encourages people to come because of the large selection of footwear, which will not be sold anywhere else for less.
“It’s a great opportunity to help our customers spend some time downtown, save money and shop local,” said Dodds.
Other businesses in Laramie are also focusing on free physical activities for the community to enjoy this Black Friday, including Altitude Fitness which will be offering a free group workout from 9 to 10 a.m.
Laramie’s Basecamp will not be opening the doors of their store, Fri., but instead will be filling the day with events available for the community. Laramie’s Basecamp has activities including lessons for skiing or skating and a 5K walk or run. A mocktail happy hour will also be held in conjunction with live music at Laramie’s Basecamp at 4 to 7 p.m.
The choice of whether or not Black Friday sales are worth it will be up to the consumer. However, Black Friday as a holiday will have many events hosted by smaller stores through the community available to the public. These events may make the unrecognized holiday worth it for the Laramie community.
