Satisfy a sweet tooth while contributing to the Human Physiology Club’s bake sale for the Downtown Clinic in downtown Laramie, as they shed light on the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle today in the Wyoming Union at 11 a.m.

“We are hosting a bake sale to raise money for the Downtown Clinic’s fitness program. This program helps low-income residents learn how to safely work out, become educated on how to eat healthier, and manage chronic diseases,” said the event description.

The event will support The Downtown Clinic, an organization that focuses on providing free healthcare to low income individuals that do not have insurance and providing the community with health education services, including the fitness program. While the clinic receives 75% of funding from the community, these events play an important role in the clinic’s success.

“We are actively involved in raising money for the Downtown Clinic and the Laramie Soup Kitchen,” said Bryce Snow, president of the Human Physiology Club.

The clinic has been helping the community of Laramie for two decades and to this day contributes to community members in a large way. The clinic partners with local businesses, including the University of Wyoming which provide great support to the non–profit.

Programs and fundraisers put on by the club are focused on increasing awareness in regard to the importance of the human physiology field and general health.

The club’s goal is to increase awareness of the importance of the field of health and human physiology, which is the foundation behind fundraising for the fitness program for the community. Not only do individuals learn about fitness itself, but also learn about the little things one can do in order to lead a healthier lifestyle.

“Our club is centered around all things in regards to Human Physiology and medicine and our members are mostly pre-medical students. . .The idea is to provide a place to grow as a professional and be an advocate for health and physiology studies,” said Snow.

Community members can attend the fundraising event, which will contribute to the clinic.

The Human Physiology Club will also be partnering with Applebees to host a Pancake Breakfast Dec. 14 from 8-10 a.m., said Snow. The proceeds will either be given to the Downtown Clinic or the Laramie Soup Kitchen.

Others who would like to gather more info about donations and volunteer opportunities at the Downtown Clinic can contact the clinic at (307) 745–8445.
