“It’s Christmas, that wonderful time of year when families deck the halls, don gay apparel and pretend they don’t hate each other,” said two time Rolling Premier award winner and University of Wyoming theatre and dance professor, William Missouri Downs.
“How to Survive Your Family At Christmas” is a comedy about a prestigious college student named Loretta who is visiting her parents for Christmas, despite thinking she would never see them again. This visit is encouraged by the daughter’s new boyfriend Langdon, who wishes to meet her blue collar parents.
“‘How to Survive Your Family At Christmas’ is a crowd-pleasing comedy about family, love and the one thing we all need to survive the holidays, forgiveness,” said Downs.
Downs is also a director, actor and writer. Downs has published 11 plays and has co-authored four books. His other comedies and musicals include “Kosher Lutherans” and “Women Playing Hamlet.” Downs’s work has been produced over two hundred times and he has directed 40 plays.
“Take a break from the craziness of modern life, bring the family and enjoy this fast-moving comedy, complete with Christmas Carolers, is the perfect way to ring in the holiday season,” said Downs.
The comedy will be available to be viewed through Dec. and will start today at 7:30 p.m. The musical will continue Dec. 6, 7, 12 and 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts on the Main Stage.
