The Border War football game is a very hyped event here on campus, however there is a lot of good rivalry action to look forward to throughout the rest of the year.
Seven different University of Wyoming teams either will or have already taken on the CSU Rams, for a grand total of 10 battles to be fought in the Border War.
Eight of these head-to-head matches are still to come as of this publication.
In addition to the highly anticipated Border War football game this Saturday, Rams will be facing off with Cowgirls and Cowboys on two other occasions this week in volleyball and swimming & diving.
Saturday’s Border War football game will be preceded by the Cowgirls Swimming & Diving team competing against Colorado State and Colorado Mesa in a tri-meet on Friday.
The Rams have a perfect season record of 11-0 so far, but the Cowgirls have beaten the Rams each of the last seven seasons.
The Cowgirls’ head coach Dave Denniston is well aware and well prepared for the rivalry to rear its head this weekend.
“There is no love lost between us and CSU,” Denniston told UW Athletics. “They’re undefeated this year, so it will be a real good, close meet. There’s a lot of pride around that meet.”
The Border War will continue to be fueled by pride, as the Cowgirl Volleyball team will go up against the CSU Rams on the following Tuesday Nov. 9.
The Cowgirls will be playing at home at the Uni-Wyo Sports Complex in Laramie, and will be looking to redeem themselves after losing to the Rams 0-3 on Sep. 28.
The series history stands at 3-14 CSU, and the Cowgirls’ season stands at 13-11 overall and 5-7 in the Mountain West Conference.
After the first two weeks of November being so Border War heavy, Colorado State and Wyoming fans alike will have plenty of time to cool down before the next match-up, which will come on Jan. 31 in the form of a Men’s Basketball game.
Both Cowboy and Cowgirl basketball each have two meetings scheduled against Colorado State.
The Cowboys have a 135–100 series lead over the Rams in Men’s Basketball, and the Cowgirls are looking to turn a tied record of 53-53 into a leading record in the upcoming season.
The final scheduled competition of the 2021-22 academic year between UW Wyoming and Colorado State will fall into the hands of the Women’s Tennis team.
They will be travelling to Fort Collins next April to wrap up the 2021-22 Border War season.
Both schools will be looking to secure the upper hand in each sport and take the Border War win home to their side of the state line.
