UW Rodeo had their second rodeo of the season in Riverton, WY. Our rodeo team goes up against 12 other college teams in the Central Rocky Mountain Region. Those teams are found within 3 states.
The ones from Wyoming are: Central Wyoming College, Eastern Wyoming College, Casper College, Sheridan College, Gillette College, Laramie County Community College and of course, UW.
From Colorado; Lamar Community College, Colorado State University, Otero Junior College, and Northeastern Junior College.
The last state is Nebraska and there is only one college within the region and that is Chadron State College.
Over the weekend, the UW Rodeo team participated in nine events.
In team roping, Stratton Kohr (header) and Quincy Reynolds (heeler) placed 5th with a time of 18.3 seconds.
In steer wrestling, two individuals made the short go round. Cameron Jensen, a senior, placed 5th and Kaden Berger placed second.
In goat tying, Faith Hoffman was our only contender in the final round and she placed 2nd with a time of 7.6 seconds.
Breakaway roping had the most UW students make the final round in any of the events at the rodeo. There were 5 cowgirls in the top 12. In 7th place was Kelsey Lensgrav with a time of 3.5 seconds. 3rd was Sage Kohr with a run of 2.6 seconds.
In 2nd was Kodey Hoss with a time of 2.5 seconds. Cassidy March and Kassandra Shoemaker were also in the short go round however, they missed their calf and received no time.
In bareback riding there were four contestants who made the short go. Bronson Wehrli placed 6th with a score of points. Brice Patterson followed in 4th with a score of 64 points. Third was Colton Farrow with 65 points and 2nd was Drake Amundson with 69 points.
There were no points gained in saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, or barrel racing. UW has its next rodeo on Sept. 30 – Oct. 2 in Sheridan, WY.
