The Wyoming Cowgirls volleyball team won on the road, beating Fresno State bulldogs in an impressive four-set victory, the final scores being 23-25, 25-20, 25-21, and 25-14.
On Saturday, Oct.15, the Cowgirls started off strong, losing to the Bulldogs by only two points. They then picked up the pace, winning the next three games and paving the way for a UW victory.
Junior Naya Shimé was the frontwoman for the Cowgirls Saturday night, leading the team with 18 kills, five digs, and two blocks. Not far behind was graduate student KC McMahon who leaped off the bench and lobbied 11 kills for the Cowgirls.
Following close behind McMahon was sophomore Teresa Garza with nine kills and 11 digs, and freshman Tierney Barlow had seven kills. Freshman Rylee Schulz also helped secure a Wyoming win with two service aces and five blocks.
While all those players were on offense, sophomore Kasia Partyka held her own on defense, recording 44 assists, four kills, an ace, and eight digs to her repertoire. Senior Hailey Zuroske was also on defense, documenting a match-high of 17 digs against the Bulldogs.
The Cowgirls return home this Thursday for their homecoming game, where they will face off against Utah State.
