The Cowboys picked up a big victory against their rival school, Colorado State with a final score of 58-57, snapping an eight game losing streak in the process.
There was high attendance at the Dome of Doom, with 6,968 in the crowd. The fans were loud, and are always happy when the Rams are in town.
It wasn’t until 2:32 into the game that the 0-0 tie was broken, with a free throw made by the Rams.
The two teams played fairly tight in the first part of the first half, but the Cowboys ran away with a big lead towards the end of the first half.
Their largest lead was 16 points, a lead that has been foreign to Cowboy fans through these last eight games.
Noah Reynolds helped in this effort by securing 12 points in the first half along with a few highlight reel layups. He ended the game with a team high of 17 points.
Pokes were up 35-21 at halftime, and seemed poised to run away with a border war win.
The second half was upon the Pokes– their kryptonite all season long. After leading by 14 at halftime, the Rams tied the game with 6:40 left to play.
The Rams went on to take their second lead of the game with five minutes left to play in the border war.
Fans were on the edge of their seats, as CSU games are not taken lightly for Pokes fans.
After going back and forth for the final five minutes, Noah Reynolds put the Rams to sleep with his game winning free throw for a dramatic finish.
The Pokes will head to Las Vegas on Tuesday, Jan. 24 for a battle with UNLV, hoping to win their second division game of the year.
