The Cowgirls volleyball team came back to the UniWyo Sports Complex for a spring game against the Colorado Buffaloes, winning in four sets, 3-1.
Mountain West Freshman of the Year, Tierney Barlow got things started with the Cowgirls first point of set number one, but they would go on to lose the set 20-25.
Skyy Howard, middle blocker for CU Boulder, dominated the Cowgirls in the first set. Her powerful spikes led the Buffs to a 1-0 lead transitioning into the second set.
In the second set, the Cowgirls picked it up, and won it 25-23. They were tied with Colorado going into the third set.
Freshman outside hitter, Sarah Holcomb, was putting on her best impression of a brick wall in the second set, tallying a few sweet blocks, and one that would be the set winner.
A dominant third set came after this, and the Cowgirls had all the momentum moving into the final set, winning 25-18, and taking the lead 2-1.
They would finish it off in the fourth, 25-20, for a 3-1 win over the Colorado Buffs.
Barlow, who was playing on her birthday, tallied the last point for the Cowgirls, and the match was concluded by her teammates and fans singing happy birthday for her.
They will conclude their spring stint in Denver, with a matchup against the Metro State Roadrunners.
The 2023 season looks bright, as the Freshmen thrived against Colorado, a tough Pac-12 conference matchup.
Cowgirl fans have much to look forward to next fall.
