Laramie held its third annual Adult Prom fundraiser, with over 200 attendees, to raise money against human trafficking.
All the proceeds of the event went to the host, Albany Advertising Council on Trafficking, a non-profit that provides support to the local community and to trafficking survivors.
While the event is for individuals 21 and older, it still had activities that traditional high school prom would have such as prom royalty, this year’s prom king and queen were Joe and Avery Troyer, a best dressed competition, and more.
While there were some intricate outfits at the “boots, bowties and bling” themed event, such as Henry Bothwell dressed in his a Star Wars suit from high school, it was ultimately Allison and Marcus Curley who won the best dressed competition.
“Prom night sounds like a high school memory. This event being an annual way to be supportive in the community is actually a really fun way to just let loose and just be here and be present. I expected it to be super formal and not loose and fun. It’s relaxing and easy to be here. I would encourage lots of people to come,” Natalie White, an attendee, said.
In previous years, the event was held as Bond’s Brewing Co., but due to the increased interest from the local community it changed venues to the Cowboy Saloon as the fundraiser anticipates continued growth in the future.
