Laramie Hosts Halloween Events for All Ages

Whether you are young or old, a single student, or have a large family with young children, the city of Laramie hosts a variety of spooky Halloween-themed events for everyone to enjoy! These include movie viewings, trick-or-treating, crafts and much more. A number of events are free or relatively inexpensive which allows for these activities to be accessible to a larger population.

This previous Saturday, Oct. 26th, Laramites enjoyed Scaramie 2024, sponsored by The Bent and Rusty. This event allowed for trick-or-treaters to indulge in their much anticipated holiday by visiting downtown businesses in a safe and comfortable environment. Landmark Property Management also hosted their Annual Haunted Basement.

On campus, the community can also enjoy trick-or-treating without the concern of safety through the UW Safe Treat event on Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. The event will open up the following permitted parking lots to participants: Ivinson Parking Garage, North McWhinnie Hall Parking Lot, North & West Service Building Parking Lot, North Anthropology Lot, North Engineering, Education & Research Lot, West Cooper House Parking Lot. Buildings open for Safe Treat include the Wyoming Union, the lower level of Washakie Dining Center, Tobin Honors House, and multiple Greek life houses. Fraternities in participation are Sigma Nu, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Sigma Chi, and Sigma Phi Epsilon, along with the sororities Alpha Phi, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Delta Delta Delta, and Chi Omega.

Another on-campus event for all ages is the Make a Monster event, Monday, Oct. 28 from 4:30 to 7:30 pm hosted by the Innovation Workshop at the Engineering Education and Research Building.  This crafting event provides materials and guides patrons through creating their own Frankenstein toy! The event costs $10 and resignation is available at the link: https://wyrkshop.libcal.com/event/13227976.

There are also several Trunk or Treat events, the first being free from 3 to 6 pm at Edgewood Healthcare on Oct. 30. On Halloween, KOCA Radio has Trunk or Treat at 1 pm, and WyoTech hosts their Trunk or Treat from 5:30-7:30 pm in their auto shop at 1767 Venture Drive. The event is free and includes spookily decorated cars. Albany County Government is hosting their Trick-or-Treat at the planning office and county courthouse from 2 – 4 pm. At 3:30 pm on Halloween, the Cottonwood Nursing Home is hosting a party for their residents with trick-or-treating for kids beginning around 4:30 pm. A trick-or-treat carnival by Mountain West Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company is open to the community for candy, games, and prizes from 5-6 pm on Halloween.

Trunk or Treat Laramie begins at 3 pm at Perkins Restaurant and Bakery at the UW Plaza and ends at 6 pm on Halloween. Truckers can register their vehicles by emailing their Driver’s License and vehicle registration to TRUNKORTREAT@MAIL.COM to receive an assigned parking space. You can email the same address to register trick-or-treaters under the age of 15 with their name, age, a photo and description of their costume and contact information in order to receive instructions and prizes! Then following all of the family fun and trick-or-treating, you can head to Bonds Brewing for Bingo at 7 pm with live music by The Coveralls from 8 -11 pm and a costume party and contest at 9 pm.
