Small Business Weekend Offers Opportunity to Support Local Businesses

Small businesses are a foundation of the community of Laramie. Downtown is lined with homegrown startups, shops, and eateries that, combined, define the small town charm that Laramie is known for. These small businesses are always looking for opportunities to introduce themselves to the community, and the weekend of Black Friday sees some of their busiest days of the year.

As a result, Downtown Laramie is putting on a Small Business Weekend from Friday, Nov. 29, to Sunday, Dec. 1, which will offer fun events each day to attract business to downtown and give exposure to a plethora of small businesses.

First up is Plaid Friday on Nov. 29, which encourages customers to wear plaid as they shop with local businesses on Black Friday. Next, Small Business Saturday on Nov. 30 offers a fun prize to customers who attend; a free Shop Laramie shopping bag which will contain mystery surprises, including gift certificates to various downtown shops. The bags will be given out to the first 250 people who come to The Collective at 100 S 2nd Street from 10:00 a.m to noon on Nov. 30.

After this, customers will have the opportunity to shop with local artists at the Artist Market on Dec. 1 for Artists Sunday, whose proceeds will go to supporting Laramie Plains Civic Center’s communal art spaces. This event will take place from 10:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m at the Laramie Plains Civic Center at 710 E Garfield St.

In addition to these events, many of the small businesses downtown are offering fun promotions when you purchase an item from their stores. For example, The Knothole is offering 30% off the whole store on Saturday, Nov. 30 with a social media post, Palatium Hair is offering 20% off everything, excluding gift sets, and Sweet Pickles is offering 15% off everything in store. Additionally, Flowering Journey Wellness is offering a complimentary spinal wellness check on Small Business Saturday, and Night Heron Books and Coffeehouse is offering a $1 drip coffee all day Nov. 30.

Whether you are holiday shopping, exploring downtown, or looking for a good place to eat, Small Business Weekend is a great opportunity to support the small businesses that make Laramie such an endearing destination.
