Entertainment 7220 prepares to host the 2025 Union Fest on campus. Union Fest will happen on May 9 in the union and is an all-day event. Students can expect many different things from Union Fest, including a concert by artist Phillip Phillips.
“The day will usually start around 11 a.m. with games and activities. There will be opportunities for students to play games, and connect to different campus offices. We will have raffle prizes, and some inflatables this year. ASUW is doing walking tacos during that time, and then later in the afternoon, we transition into the concert which will start at 6 PM. They will be serving dinner at around 5, and then that’s kind of the whole day,” said Gwen Daily, the Assistant Director of Activities of Student Organization and Entertainment.
Union Fest will take place the Friday before finals week, ending the school year. “Union Fest is supposed to be a celebration of students successfully making it through the end of the semester, or the end of the entire academic school year. We intentionally plan it to be that Friday before finals week so that it’s a last chance for students to relax, unwind, de-stress before they hunker down and dive into finals. Finals are stressful and can be a lot of pressure. It’s really important that we offer students an opportunity to step out of that student-role, before one of the most important parts of college for students,” said Alicia Perez, the 7220 Program Coordinator.
Union Fest is completely free. Students and Faculty are welcome to bring family members and friends to Union Fest. Daily said, “We do see a lot of community members. A lot of staff and faculty bring their families so that’s always welcome. It’s an amazing thing to see, the comradery between the community families, and the students.” While this is an opportunity for students to connect to the university, and celebrate their achievements, it’s also a chance for students to connect to friends and family.
Daily went on to say, “It’s a very chill day. Students and community members can come set up a blanket and hang out in Prexy’s. They really can choose their engagement level. They can be upfront dancing, or in the back hanging out with their friends or families.”
Union Fest will include many games and activities that are open to both students and the general Laramie community alike, with a Phillip Phillips concert to top it all off.
